In 1974, while picking Concord Grapes for jelly, Scott Houghton, at 10 years old discovered his Great-Grandfathers hops growing wild over the old stone wall. They looked like papery green pine cones and emitted a distinct herbal smell when rubbed. Years later, in 1986 after Art School, he and some friends discovered home-brewed beer. So began Scott's near-lifelong dream of giving to the community in a meaningful way; to participate in the advancement of American beer culture. By 1995, he was working full-time as a brewer, Head Brewer of Salem Beer Works by 1996, and by 2007after 12 years in Salem, ready to begin work on the ultimate goal; brewpub development on his own.

Jeremy Cross has had an extensive career in craft brewing across the United States. He whet his appetite for good beer while eating steamed crab with Old Bay seasoning in his native Maryland. After completing the UC Davis diploma program, Jeremy has worked in several breweries, most recently as Head Brewer for Boston Beer Works at Fenway Park. We are very excited to have Jeremy on board who brings not only his brewing abilities, but his experience with FOH operations. With the addition of Mr. Cross to the team our commitment to Brewer owned and operated brewpubs comes closer to fruition.
